FERNANDO DE NORONHA, Pernambuco/Brazil (Wednesday, February 03) – The main Hang Loose Pro Contest 2010 stars started their job in the second round this Wednesday. The waves were less than expected and competition was stopped around midday during low tide.

Former ASP World Champion C.J. Hobgood made his way through the first heat of the day followed by Tahitian Alain Riou. After 11th heat the contest was put in stand by till next call but waves didn’t improve and it was postponed for Thursday at 7:00am.

“I didn’t really get going, but any time you can have an off heat and make it, it’s always better them have a good heat and don’t move on, so I’m still happy”, said C. J. “This is my first time here and I am enjoying a lot, this is a beautiful place and the waves today are quiet similar to my home break at Florida, so I’m happy to be here, training every day because in Florida now is a little bit cold”.

In the 3rd heat of the Day Brazilian Willian Cardoso celebrated his victory over 3 international surfers with a 8 points wave, the highest score of the day. “I choose to surf in the left corner of Cacimba and it paid off. I was lucky to find a good wave in the ning of the heat and then I just enjoy the surf with only others three surfers in the water”, said Cardoso.l

It happened again in the 5th heat. Brazilian Gustavo Fernandes overtook current WT Top Matt Wilkinson. “I was pretty happy with my heat, my board is working really good, the waves are super fun, good sections, no wind, so it’s good for competition. I had been twice before and surfed really good barrels of 4 to 6 foot, this is a high performance wave when it’s big”, d the Australian.

But Brazilian eyes were on ASP One Ranking 2010 leaders Heitor Alves and Alejo Muniz, first and second placed in the WQS Paracuru that ended last Sunday. They both started in Noronha winning their heats in the Hang Loose Pro Contest second round.

“I’m relaxed. I came from a victory at home and whatever happens here is great. It has been two years since the last time I came here, and it’s nice to be here again”, said Heitor Alves.

CHAMPIONS HEAT- Alejo was in a heat full of champions in that second round. There were three national champions in the water with the current Brazilian and South America Junior Champion Peterson Rosa, the only one with 3 National Titles. He got barreled to score 8 to pass the heat in the place. Vitor Ribas and Renato Galvão are out of the race for the first 6.500 Prime points in offer this year.

“Oh, those guys are amazing. Peterson got barreled in the best wave of the heat. I Just used his tactic”, confessed Alejo. “I went to the left corner and it worked. I’m learning with those guys, for sure, and I’m happy to win that heat”.
